about tablehopper.com

Hi. Is this seat taken? No? Good.

So, first things first: tablehopper.com is not a blog; it’s a web site, with content provided by my free weekly newsletter, “the tablehopper.” “The tablehopper” features primarily San Francisco restaurant reviews (new or established, high and low) and some bar reviews too, along with industry gossip, weekend getaway ideas, and other places and things I’ve discovered. As the newsletters add up, tablehopper.com’s content will grow, but for now, we’re starting slim. (It’s kind of like what happened to me. But that’s another matter.)

Most sites that feature restaurant reviews force you to look things up by cuisine and location, like “Peruvian restaurant in SOMA.” And then there’s the lovely task of sorting through a pile of results of places you’ve never even heard of, with all kinds of price ranges. Instead, the reality of your dining outing is that you’re meeting a friend for dinner, and you want a recommendation for a casual place that’s affordable but has some ambiance, and the City is pretty small so it can actually be almost anywhere. You want a place that someone can personally vouch for. That’s where my tip please service comes in: answer a few questions and I’ll set you up with some custom recommendations. It’s just like having your own personal concierge. How fancy, huh? And it’s free (for now).
