I have been sitting on this news for a good long while, but now the story is out: Real Restaurants is closing FOG CITY DINER on March 15th and will be reopening it as FOGCITY later this year with Bruce Hill (who has partnered with “the Bills” on Zero Zero, Bix, and Picco). The next iteration will be modern American—in a way, Hill will be taking the original concept to the next level (back in its day, Fog City Diner was a cutting-edge, eclectic small plates concept). The space is going under a major redesign by Michael Guthrie, and hopefully it will be all complete by late summer, just in time for the America’s Cup. Stand by for more details soon. 1300 Battery St. at Embarcadero, 415-982-2000.
