MAY 02, 2006 | PALM SPRINGS Okay, this is where we get real. You'd think I was perched at the bar at NOPA or dining at Coí tonight, but truth be told, your faithful tablehopper is actually in Palm Springs right now. On vacation. For a week. (And no, I’m not at a fat farm, although that wouldn't be such a bad thing.)

I had the best of intentions to write up a poolside installment for you, but instead of chatting to chefs or publicists or my oh-so secret sources, I've been rather engaged with this bottle of champagne I seem to permanently have at my side, and flirting with the pool boy.
