Negroni Week returns June 24th-30th, and it’s also the 100-year anniversary of the Negroni! 103 bars and restaurants have already signed up in San Francisco and pledged to donate a portion of proceeds for every Negroni, specialty Campari cocktail, or Negroni-inspired item to charity. While my inbox is inundated with info, here are a few unique items that caught my eye—check the website for all the listings of participating bars and restaurants.
—Locanda is hosting a party on Monday June 24th with guest bartenders and unlimited snacks! VIP 6pm $60, GA 7pm $45. All proceeds benefit No Kid Hungry.
—Elixir is serving a Negroni Fog: salted sweet vermouth whipped cream over a stirred gin and Campari base. Karl the Fog should approve.
—Let them eat cake! Bluestem Brasserie will be offering a Negroni cake ($10 per slice), an orange chiffon cake soaked with Negroni syrup, Negroni sabayon filling, and blood orange Campari buttercream created by consulting pastry chef Lori Baker. Proceeds from the Negroni cake will be donated to Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation.
—Perbacco is bringing back their famed Negroni popcorn, and they will also be featuring an olive oil semifreddo with blood orange, Campari granita, compressed fennel, and Castelvetrano shortbread. So clever! Proceeds will benefit Muttville.
On Sunday June 30th, there is a fundraiser event for one of our most beloved people in the cocktail community, Aurora Siegel, who is currently battling breast cancer (FUCK CANCER!). There are amazing auction items, raffle prizes and 100 percent of all drink sales will go directly to Aurora. Please come with a generous wallet and a bunch of friends to support this amazing woman who has given so much to our community. Thanks for spreading the word.
If you can’t make it (it’s Pride Sunday, so that’s gonna be tough for some), you can still support by donating to her GoFundMe page, thank you! Aurora is such a magnificent woman with the biggest heart, let’s match her bright, loving light. 4pm-8pm. Hotsy Totsy Club, 601 San Pablo Ave, Albany.
