SPOONBAR at the h2hotel in Healdsburg announced last week that Louis Maldonado is taking over as executive chef, replacing Rudy Mihal. With Pigs & Pinot raging this weekend, Maldonado won’t get a whole lot of time to adjust to the new digs before. He’ll be leading the Spoonbar kitchen through Friday night’s “Taste of Pigs & Pinot” event, and teaming up with Mateo Granados of Mateo’s Cocina Latina the next night for Spoonbar’s four-course “Eat 100” dinner, serving only ingredients sourced within a 100-mile radius. Once the porkfest is over, Maldonado will turn his attention to revamping the menus at Spoonbar.

Maldonado has been rocking the SF scene hard for the last decade—you may recall he led Cortez to Michelin star status during his tenure there as executive chef, and previously worked at Café Majestic as well as One Market under Adrian Hoffman. In the last three years, he has been chef de cuisine at Aziza with Mourad Lahlou. Should be quite an exciting springtime for Spoonbar. 219 Healdsburg Ave. at Mill St., Healdsburg, 707-433-7222.
