A tipster who lives nearby sent us the news on this bar right on the border of Oakland and Emeryville, and now it looks like E’ville Eye has some details. The former Streamline Lounge—which was housed in a cool, midcentury tiled building—closed back in 1979 and after a short life as Cobbler, sat vacant. Now, a team has taken the space over and plans to open THE WOLFHOUND.
Partners include Peadar Kelleher, bar manager Chris Southgate, and Keith Mulligan. They hope to create a local gathering place, in the style of the town pub in Ireland. They plan to embrace the space’s retro feel with cocktails from the era, and eclectic, vintage furnishings. You can also look out for live jazz once a week, as well as a pub quiz and other activities. There doesn’t seem to be a timeline at the moment, since the project is still awaiting planning commission approval. 5516 San Pablo Ave, at 55th St., Oakland.
