Welcome to Fogtober, it’s Karl’s city now. (At least this weather keeps me productive, and considering how much I have going on right now, that’s a good thing.) I almost can’t believe I was swimming and soaking up some rays poolside at the fab Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley in Calistoga just two weeks ago. That place was a dream getaway for early fall—and they just opened their new upscale dining concept, Auro, featuring a rotating, seasonal tasting menu from executive chef Rogelio Garcia (formerly Luce). Serving Fri-Sat for now. (I see Robiola butter on the menu and I want it.) There are two chef’s tables in the jaw-dropping kitchen for those who want ringside seats, but the glass walls mean you can watch the kitchen from the dining room as well, while admiring the view outside. The terrace really is something special there. Maybe head up for Calistoga Food & Wine on November 19th?

During my 24-hour jaunt, I was also in Healdsburg for the launch of the Cuzen collaboration with SingleThread—I’ll be posting about this on Instagram shortly, but if you want to check out a couple matcha recipes from chef Kyle Connaughton, they just posted the first two here (more to come)! (That smoothie is perfection—but I really need a professional blender at home.) Mmmmmatcha! Maybe you remember reading about this magic machine in my holiday gift guide?

I have definitely needed the extra caffeine to keep up with all my deadlines. My most recent profile for Nob Hill Gazette features Noodle in a Haystack’s new SF restaurant and their superlative ramen—you can read it in the October issue, or online here.
