Looking to learn more about what distinguishes a good value wine from a simply cheap one? Check out this class at ~18 REASONS~ from the engaging Vinny Eng on Wednesday January 22nd from 7pm-9pm. He’ll be discussing the differences between good value wines and cheap ones, as well as helping you figure out some techniques for selecting good ones. He’ll also be pouring tastes from five of his favorites, all of which retail for less than $20. Tickets are $40 per person, or $30 for 18 Reasons members.
The Zinfandel Advocates and Producers (or ZAP) are back in town with their zin-tastic festival, now called the ZINFANDEL EXPERIENCE. It runs from Thursday January 23rd to Saturday January 25th at the Presidio and the Four Seasons. There are a ton of different ways to experience the varietal, from a winemaker dinner to workshops on food pairings, flights, and regionally focused tastings. Don’t miss the release of the new third English edition of the SLOW WINE GUIDE on Monday January 27th at Terra Gallery in SoMa. The Italian wine event includes tastings of wines in the guide, as well as a chance to take a look at the guide and meet some of the producers featured in it.
