Relais & Chateaux, the European hotel and restaurant company, is back in Carmel-by-the-Sea for the second annual Gourmet Fest Carmel, a weekend-long event with some heavy-hitting Relais & Chateaux chefs, along with top winemakers and sommeliers from France, Italy, and the local region. This year includes appearances by Michel Bras, Gaia Gaja, Dom Pérignon’s chef de cave Richard Geoffroy, Ernst Loosen, Tetsuya Wakuda, and many other notables in the food and wine world. And since the event isn’t that large (compared with most other food and wine festivals), it’s a great opportunity for some special contact with many talented people.
The weekend actually begins on the evening of Thursday March 5th, with a welcome party, and continues with intimate wine tastings and workshops, as well as luncheons, cooking demonstrations, and grand chef dinners. Though the weekend definitely skews toward the luxurious, there are certainly lots of great events for less that $200, including the Wild Mushroom Hunt and Lunch for $175 per person and the Galante Vineyards Tour and Lunch, also for $175.
